Promote is a community group in
Upper Hutt which seeks to offer thoughtful insight to public
discussion and so contribute to the process of building a healthy
society.

The group is made
up of people who:
-
Hold the family unit in high
regard.
-
Understand that ideas have
consequences that continue from one generation to another.
-
Seek to work out of thinking which
is based in reality and can be shown to be true through history
(which may or may not agree with popular theory).
-
Wish to leave a positive influence
on their community for future generations.
Promote appreciates the importance of working together. Rather than
enter into direct debate from outside of society’s struggles, we
seek to be practically involved in our community and work on a
relational basis, seeking advice from others already involved in the
issues. Our endeavour is to maintain the realisation that we need to
keep an attitude in which we are willing to learn from those who see
differently from us and work with them rather than simply oppose.

What we do:
As a community
group we seek to be involved within the life of the community.
This includes hosting events and networking to encourage a
practical, positive outcome that will strengthen our community
for the long term.
Questions that Promote would ask:
-
Is
this idea conducive to maintaining a healthy society?
-
What are the long-term consequences likely to be?
-
On
what value system / agenda / assumptions are the arguments
based?
-
Does History agree?
-
Will it empower people - thereby creating responsible
citizenship, or will it create dependence?
-
Does the answer lie in the State or in the community itself? –
or both?
